Terms

Last updated 29 September 2026

DogDesk gives dog trainers the software to run their bookings. The training itself is between a trainer and their client — we are not part of that, and these terms explain where the line falls.

Who these are between

These terms are an agreement between you and Aidan-Jack Marshall, trading as DogDesk, of 33 Holyrood Road, Doncaster DN2 5HR. They apply from the moment you create an account. If you are signing up for a business, you are confirming you may agree to these on its behalf.

What DogDesk does

We give you a place to keep your clients, their dogs and your sessions; a booking page you can share, switch off, or keep for consultations only; reminders and confirmations sent on your behalf; and a way to take payment through Stripe.

What DogDesk is not

  • We are not party to your work with your clients. When someone books, the agreement is between them and you. Your prices, your cancellation policy, your refunds and any dispute about a session are yours to set and yours to settle.
  • We do not give training advice. Nothing DogDesk produces — a plan, a template, a suggested next step — is a professional opinion about a dog. You are the trainer.
  • We do not vet anyone. We do not check a trainer’s qualifications, insurance or references, and a DogDesk booking page is not a recommendation from us.

Your side of it

  • Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has them.
  • Hold the right insurance and qualifications for the work you do.
  • Have a lawful reason for the client and dog records you keep, and tell your clients you use DogDesk to hold them. Our privacy page is written so you can point them at it.
  • Honour the cancellation policy you publish, and the bookings you accept.
  • Do not use DogDesk to send anything unlawful, or to contact people who have not asked to hear from you.

Paying for DogDesk

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. A free trial needs no card and nothing is charged during it. When it ends, you add a card to carry on; if you don’t, you get a week’s grace, then your account becomes read-only until you subscribe. Nothing is deleted, and nothing is ever charged without a card you have added.

You can cancel at any time and keep your account until the end of the month you have already paid for. We do not refund part-used months, except where the law says otherwise or where we have got something wrong.

If we change what DogDesk costs, we will tell you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel instead.

Money your clients pay you

Client payments go through your own Stripe account and are paid out to you by Stripe on Stripe’s terms. We never hold your money, and we take no cut of it: your subscription is all DogDesk costs. Stripe charges its own card fees. If a client charges back or disputes a payment, that is between them, you and Stripe.

Your data and your records

What you put into DogDesk stays yours. We claim no ownership of your clients, your notes or your training plans, and we will not use them for anything other than running the service for you.

You can ask for a full export at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and everything in it. See the privacy page.

Your clients’ data: how we handle it for you

For the records you keep about your clients and their dogs, you are the controller and we are your processor. This section is the agreement between us that UK data protection law asks for. It is part of these terms, so it applies as soon as you have an account and lasts for as long as we hold those records.

  • What we handle, and why. The client and dog records you add or that come in through your booking page: names, email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes, notes, intake form answers, dogs’ details, photos and health records, sessions, payments, training plans and comments. The people they are about are your clients and anyone who books through your link. We store them, show them to you and your clients, and use them to send the emails and reminders your bookings call for, take payments and keep your calendar in step — only to run DogDesk for you.
  • Only on your instructions. Your instructions are these terms and what you do in DogDesk. We don’t use your client records for anything of our own. If the law ever required us to, we would tell you first unless the law forbade that. If we think an instruction of yours breaks data protection law, we will say so.
  • Kept confidential. Only the people who run DogDesk (today, one person) can reach your client records, only to fix a problem or when you ask for help, and they are bound to keep them confidential.
  • Kept secure. Records are encrypted in storage and on the way to and from your device, each trainer’s records can only be read by their own account, and we never hold card numbers.
  • Other companies. You agree to us using the companies listed on our privacy page, each for the one job it does there. We hold each to data protection terms of its own and stay responsible to you for them. Before we add or replace one, we will email you at least 30 days ahead; if you object and we can’t meet the objection, you can close your account. Where data reaches the United States, the safeguards on the privacy page apply.
  • Helping you with your clients’ rights. You can download everything and delete a client yourself. If a client asks us instead, we will pass the request to you, and we will help you answer any request, and with your own security and data protection duties, as far as we reasonably can.
  • If something goes wrong. If your client records are lost, damaged or seen by someone who shouldn’t see them, we will tell you without delay, and within 48 hours of finding out, with what we know. That leaves you time to report it to the ICO within the 72 hours the law gives you, if it needs reporting.
  • When you leave. You can download your records first. When your account is closed we delete them, and backup copies are overwritten within 30 days.
  • Showing it’s done properly. We will give you the information you reasonably need to show this is being followed, and allow and help with a reasonable audit on reasonable notice.

Your part: have a lawful reason for what you record, tell your clients you use DogDesk (the privacy page is written so you can point them at it), and don’t record sensitive details about people, such as their health, unless you really need them.

When things break

We work to keep DogDesk running, but we do not promise it will never be unavailable. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and things we depend on — Stripe, email delivery, the calendar you connected — can fail in ways we cannot control.

Keep your own record of anything you cannot afford to lose. A reminder that does not arrive is not a substitute for knowing your own diary.

Where our responsibility ends

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Beyond that, we are not liable for lost profit, lost business or lost bookings, and our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period.

Ending it

You can close your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is being used unlawfully, or has not been paid for — and other than in serious cases we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.

If we close your account, we will give you a reasonable chance to export your records before they are deleted.

Changes

We may change these terms. If a change materially affects you we will email you at least 30 days beforehand, and you may cancel if you are not happy with it. The date at the top always shows when they last changed.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer rather than a business, this does not take away rights you have where you live.
